GenImage is a benchmark dataset for evaluating detectors that distinguish AI-generated fake images from real images, comprising over one million paired AI-generated and collected real images spanning diverse classes and synthesized by state-of-the-art diffusion models and GANs. It defines two evaluation tasks—cross-generator image classification to measure generalization when a detector trained on one generator is tested on others, and degraded image classification to assess robustness to low-resolution, blur, and compression.
